Lauren O’Brien Buckley, L.Ac. is nationally certified with NCCAOM and holds state licensure in Pennsylvania and Delaware. She completed a B.S. in Community Health Education from the University of Arizona in 1997 and a four-year M.Sc. in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego, California in 2002. Her postgraduate internship was at the Chengdu Univeristy of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Chengdu, China in 2003 where she focused on Orthpedics and OB/GYN. In 2004, Lauren moved to Hong Kong and continued learning about different traditional medicines, as she was able to travel extensively throughout Southeast Asia, China, Tibet, Nepal and India. She attended the Yoga Vidya Dham in Nasik, India to become a certified yoga instructor before returning to the United States.
Lauren founded South Philly Community Acupuncture in 2007 and is thrilled to see it thriving as she can offer affordable and comprehensive health care to her community. Although she enjoys treating a variety of common conditions, Lauren takes a special interest in pain management, emotional health and prenatal care. When not treating patients in the clinic, Lairen can be seen romping through the streets of Philly with her husband and their five sons!
Justine Pileggi, L.Ac received a Bachelor’s of Science in Public Health prior to acquiring her Master’s degree, and licensure in acupuncture. She is passionate about maximizing the accessibility of quality healthcare within communities, and combines her education to promote affordable healthcare within the holistic health paradigm. As an acupuncturist, Justine is experienced in treating an array of health conditions, from sports injuries, chronic and acute pain conditions, digestive imbalances, fertility and reproductive health, and emotional disturbances. As a practitioner, she is whole-heartedly dedicated to the wellbeing of every patient and will work with each individual to improve their overall health and wellness, not only through acupuncture treatments but also with lifestyle, dietary and herbal recommendations. Justine is proficient in and regularly utilizes different styles of treatment; including, TCM, Five Elements, and trigger point dry needling therapy, as well as ancillary treatments such as cupping, gua sha, e-stim, and moxibustion to make her treatments even more effective. She welcomes each patient with the warmest of healing intentions and intuitively responds to the uniqueness of each person she meets in the treatment room.
Kelly Scott, L.Ac. is a board certified licensed acupuncturist and herbalist who holds state licensure in Pennsylvania and California. She completed her B.S in Exercise Science from West Chester University and a four-year MTOM in Chinese Medicine from Emperor’s College in Santa Monica, California. Kelly specializes in Master Tung and other distal needling styles of acupuncture. Additionally, Kelly has training in Shen Treatment style acupuncture, which is a form psychiatric acupuncture developed by the renowned Dr. Joseph Yang. As an integrative practitioner, Kelly believes one's body does not work in isolation; so neither should one's healthcare. She combines both Eastern and Western medicine to give her patients the best results. Kelly’s areas of expertise include acute and chronic pain, woman’s health issues, psychological/emotional disorders, insomnia, and immune conditions. Ultimately, Kelly’s focus is helping her patients maximize their own bio-intelligence (body wisdom) and resources to heal themselves.
Nicole Yassine, L.OM, L.Ac is a graduate from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine San Diego with a Master’s degree in Oriental Medicine as well as an Associate’s degree of Science from PCOM, as well as being nationally certified with NCCAOM. She studied both acupuncture and Chinese Herbal medicine and loves to use both when helping her patients! She loves to help patients lower stress and help with pain, but she especially enjoys treating fertility and digestive issues. She keeps current with new research and also loves to find new education in her field!
Nicole also works alongside a fertility MD in Philadelphia helping patients through the fertility process and is credentialed to do fertility transfer treatments through Mainline in Bryn Mawr. When she is not treating patients she is getting to know her new neighborhood with her 15 year old daughter, dog and cat!
Dr. Susanna Satten, D.Ac., L.Ac., Dipl.Ac., has a desire to help others nourish their health and enhance their life. With this in mind, she completed her Doctorate and Master degrees in Acupuncture, as well as yoga teacher trainings in Vinyasa and Alignment-based yoga. Her East-Asian medical training encompasses several styles including Classical Chinese Medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture for Facial Rejuvenation, and Stone Medicine.
Susanna treats the full range of physical and emotional health conditions affecting adults of all ages and genders. This includes gastrointestinal, respiratory, psychological, endocrine, auto-immune, and orthopedic disorders, pain management, stress management, and women's health. Susanna maintains a private acupuncture practice in the Rittenhouse Square area of Center City and also provides community-style acupuncture at South Philly Community Acupuncture. Her previous experience includes internships at the PCOM Wellness Center in New York City, an externship at NYU Langone's Initiative for Women with Disabilities, and an externship abroad at the TCM Hospital of Acupuncture and Moxibustion in Beijing, China.
She received her Master of Science in Acupuncture from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, graduating as the valedictorian of her class. Susanna went on to be one of the first in Pennsylvania to complete her Doctorate in Acupuncture. Susanna is nationally certified by the NCCAOM as a Diplomate of Acupuncture and is licensed by the Pennsylvania Board of Medicine to provide acupuncture in Pennsylvania. Additionally, she is a certified yoga teacher by Yoga Alliance (RYT 200) after completing yoga teacher trainings at Dhyana Yoga and Dig Yoga in 2011.
